Less that two weeks after a coordinated wave of attacks struck Mali, the country’s junta leader has appointed a new chief of the general staff to the armed forces.
According to a decree published on Wednesday 6 May in the Official Gazette, the ruling junta in Mali has appointed a new army leader, following the attacks carried out in late April by jihadists affiliated with Al-Qaida and Tuareg independents. The country has been facing a profound security crisis since 2012.
