- Wike alleged on Monday's TVC Journalist Hangout that the funds were compensation for Makinde's support during the 2023 presidential election, a claim the governor rejected at a North West Town Hall in Katsina.
- Dismissing the allegation, Makinde said, "The upgrade of the airport is being undertaken 100% from the Oyo State Government's pocket," denying any financial assistance from President Bola Tinubu.
- The Allied Peoples Movement presidential candidate stated the 2027 election will be "APC versus Nigerians," urging voters to obtain Permanent Voter Cards to determine the country's direction.
