- Invoking the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Sai framed the dispute as an opportunity for cooperative federalism, leveraging technical support from the Central Water Commission to reach an amicable settlement.
- Calling Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi his "younger brother," Sai stressed the close social ties between the two states, while Majhi noted that with the BJP in power in both states, the process has "accelerated."
- The Biju Janata Dal demanded public disclosure of the meeting's decisions, as BJD MLA and former Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo argued that informing the public is essential given the dispute's importance to Odisha's interests.
- An expanded technical committee will meet October 13 to examine pending aspects, and the Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal, headed by former Supreme Court Justice Bela M. Trivedi, is scheduled to convene October 15.
