Madonna Previews New Charli XCX Collab 'Danceteria Afterhours', Out Next Week
Madonna says the reworked track features Charli XCX trading vocals and follows earlier denials from Charli about the collaboration.
On Thursday, September 24, Madonna and Charli XCX will release 'Danceteria Afterhours,' a reworked collaboration announced via social media video featuring the pair dancing in a white studio space.
This release ends rumors of a feud between the artists, which began when Madonna referenced Charli's lyric 'the dancefloor is dead' from her single 'Rock Music.' The pair reconciled after spending time together in Paris over the summer.
'Danceteria Afterhours' is a reworked version of 'Danceteria' from Madonna's album 'Confessions II.' Charli found the collaboration inspiring, saying, 'She is so interested in really talking about the music that she makes, and how and why.'
Performance at the MTV Video Music Awards next week marks Madonna's return to the ceremony after 23 years, with the star holding 11 nominations this year.
Currently on her North American 'Music, Fashion, Film' tour, Charli continues balancing demanding performance schedules. She recently told fans that 'touring is really emotionally and physically hard for me,' explaining her limited gig run.
