The industrial tensions around the SCAF and the next generation combat aircraft for France and Germany are not beyond politics. Emmanuel Macron intervened in the German press on this subject and announced political decisions will soon be taken by Paris and Berlin.
The Future Combat Air System (FCAS) project, launched in 2017 by Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron as a leading example of defense cooperation between the two countries, before being joined by Spain, aims to replace the French Rafale and the German and Spanish Eurofighter, by 2040.


Due to disputes between the companies concerned, the fighter jet, jointly conceived by Germany, France and Spain, threatens to stand out – despite all the declarations made by the politicians.
