Sanjiv Goenka Breaks Silence On Rishabh Pant IPL Trade, Reveals Surprising Bond
Sanjiv Goenka said he remains on friendly terms with Rishabh Pant after the Rs 15 crore trade back to Delhi Capitals.
Rishabh Pant was traded back to Delhi Capitals for Rs 15 crore, ending his two-season spell with Lucknow Super Giants. LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka emphasized their personal bond remains strong despite the move.
Pant joined LSG in 2025 for a record Rs 27 crore but the team failed to reach the playoffs in both 2025 and 2026. The heavy investment did not yield results, prompting his resignation as captain.
During an interview on Shubhankar Mishra's podcast, Goenka expressed he remains "very fond" of Pant, describing the 28-year-old as innocent and childlike. He recalled how Pant would affectionately approach people or prank them away from cricket.
Kuldeep Yadav moved to Lucknow for Rs 13.5 crore as part of the trade. Pant will now begin another chapter with Delhi Capitals, where he previously established himself as one of the IPL's leading players.
"Our last conversation wasn't just about the trade," Goenka said, adding "We have continued to speak even after that." He offered well-wishes, stating "Good luck to him and best wishes.
