Lower Similkameen Indian Band catches motorbike trespassing on reserve lands during off-road ban
LSIB Guardians say the rider and bike were trespassing and violating provincial and band restrictions meant to reduce wildfire risk.
- On Thursday, August 13, Lower Similkameen Indian Band Guardians discovered a motorcyclist riding in the Paul Creek area at 4:46 p.m. while responding to a potential wildfire.
- An off-road vehicle ban has been in effect throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre, Southeast, and parts of the Cariboo fire centres since August 10, prompting the enforcement action.
- In contravention of restrictions, the rider was trespassing on reserve lands belonging to the LSIB, Upper Similkameen Indian Band , and Penticton and Snpink Indian Band .
- Following the encounter, LSIB issued a public reminder that these prohibitions protect "the safety of ALL people, all living things, and the waters," said the LSIB.
- Emphasizing their commitment to community safety, the LSIB urged residents and visitors to respect regulations, warning them to "Please do NOT be that person.
