Maura Higgins to Host Blind Date Reboot for Disney+
Maura Higgins will take over the classic dating format as Disney+ revives it for a new generation, with executives citing instant recognition in a crowded market.
On Wednesday, Irish model Maura Higgins will host a reboot of the classic British dating series Blind Date for Disney+, with the new season scheduled for release in 2027.
The iconic British dating show originally aired on ITV from 1985 to 2003, hosted by the late Cilla Black, before being revived in 2017 on Paramount's UK network for a brief run.
Angela Jain, head of content at Disney+ EMEA, described Higgins as a 'perfect match,' citing her 'distinctive straight-talking humour' and reality TV experience as key assets for new audiences.
Production will film at a secret location later this year, with contestants choosing between three mystery suitors hidden behind the legendary Blind Date wall and promised 'format twists.'
Since rising to fame on the 2019 series of Love Island, the 35-year-old Higgins reached the final of The Traitors US and joined the cast of Dancing With The Stars this fall.
