KLM's First Airbus A350 Delivered, But Business Class Will Stay Empty For Now
The 331-seat jet is part of an Air France-KLM order for 50 A350s, and business-class seat certification remains unresolved.
- On Friday, KLM took delivery of its first Airbus A350-900 at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, welcoming an aircraft named 'The Night Watch' inspired by Rembrandt's renowned painting.
- Part of a 2023 Air France-KLM group order for 50 A350s with options for 40 more, the aircraft will replace Boeing 777-200ERs and Airbus A330-200s and A330-300s from the fleet.
- The A350 seats 331 passengers across three cabins—34 in World Business Class, 26 in Premium Comfort Class, and 271 in Economy Class—while achieving a 25% fuel reduction through Rolls-Royce engines and lightweight materials.
- Although the European Union Aviation Safety Agency approved seat tests, KLM revealed in June that regulatory changes mean business-class seating will be unavailable when passenger flights begin in a few weeks.
- The aircraft will debut on routes to Toronto, followed by Montreal, Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam, Nairobi and Zanzibar, while the second A350 will be named 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' continuing the Dutch art theme.

Although here it did not make a very long video, I would not be surprised that in... The entry KLM received its first A350 and as always documented it very well on video was first published in Sir Chandler.
