Liverpool Confirm Signing of Teenager N'Guessan
On Friday, Premier League club Liverpool confirmed the signing of 18-year-old French winger Djylian N'Guessan from Saint-Etienne for £5m, with the teenager remaining on loan at Ligue 1 side Brest for the first half of the season.
Liverpool will determine in January whether to bring N'Guessan to Anfield or leave him in France, following his 13 senior appearances for Saint-Etienne since his January 2025 debut.
At the international level, N'Guessan competed in the 2025 U17 European Championship, netting four goals and earning Team of the Tournament honors, and played seven matches for France at the U20 World Cup.
This acquisition follows a busy summer for Liverpool, which included recruiting Spain winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna, Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain for £123 million , and goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans.
Liverpool's Global Talent team has prioritized recruiting young prospects like Armin Pesci, Mor Talla N'Diaye, Ifeanyi Ndukwe, and Samuel Martinez over the last 12 months to plan for the club's future.
Liverpool reinforced its attack by recruiting the pre-centre Djylian N-Guessan from Saint-Étienne. However, the 18-year-old remained loaned to Brest throughout the season.
