Lil Durk Trial Updates: Prosecution Case Winding Down
A former associate testified that Durk ordered the alleged retaliation plot, while prosecutors presented digital evidence and lyrics they say link him to the case.
On Sunday, Lil Durk's defense team requested that the federal judge admit a podcast interview clip with DJ Akademiks as evidence, arguing the excerpt clarifies Durk's true intent regarding online antagonism.
The court previously admitted four other interview segments, including discussions about "snitches and rats" and why calls to "slide for Von" have subsided, which prosecutors contend establish Durk's motive in the alleged murder-for-hire plot.
Cooperating witness Kavon Grant, known as OTF Vonnie, testified on Monday and Tuesday that Durk directed the group to target Quando Rondo's associates after Grant previously pleaded guilty to participating in the 2022 shooting plot.
Outside the courthouse, Dontay Banks criticized the court's decision to exclude the full interview, stating, "You supposed to be a system that's looking for the truth."
Figures including Drake and Ye have reportedly provided financial assistance for Durk's legal fees as the trial continues; if convicted of the alleged murder-for-hire charges, the rapper faces a mandatory sentence of life in federal prison.
