Inflation accelerated in August for the second consecutive month. Consumer prices rose by 3.97 percent year-on-year, reports statistics agency Statbel. Energy products (petrol, diesel, natural gas) and data storage devices, such as hard drives, USB sticks, and SD cards, were particularly significantly more expensive in August than in the same month last year.
Inflation rose in August to 3.97 per cent, announced on Friday by Statbel, the Belgian statistical office, to 3.56 per cent in July and 3.4 per cent in June. The main price increases recorded in August included natural gas, fuel, clothing, electricity and heating oil.
