AUTHOR’S NOTE: Henry Lucas struggled to renew his hunting-guide license in 1921 because Alaska’s laws favored American citizens and Lucas had yet to be naturalized. Once he again had his license, however, he demonstrated repeatedly that he was one of the best guides the Kenai Peninsula had to offer.
