RC Lens condemned racist social media abuse targeting Allan Saint-Maximin and his children, closing comment sections and pledging continued protective measures, the club said.
- On Tuesday, French club Lens said Allan Saint-Maximin faced a flood of hateful and racist insults on social media after joining on a six-month winter transfer-window deal.
- Saint-Maximin left Mexican side Club América after saying last week his children were victims of racist abuse and protecting them was his priority.
- Saint-Maximin wrote `But there is one thing I will never tolerate, and that is attacks on my children,` and added `To those who dared to go after my children, let me say this: you made a mistake.`
- Lens has restricted comments and closed the comment sections on certain posts, saying it will continue to make its social media platforms safe and respectful spaces.
- Earlier in his career he played for Saint-Etienne, Monaco, Nice, and for four seasons at Newcastle, and played just 16 league matches with Club América after signing last August.
