The situation on the apprenticeship market in the German capital is currently not rosy: with around 5,000 job seekers and only around 500 open apprenticeships, there are about ten times as many apprentices as places, reports the ORF-Wien on Sunday. The labour market service (AMS) therefore complains of a steadily decreasing number of apprenticeships and insists that the companies may offer more apprenticeships again.

With the start of the new school year, vocational training also begins for many young people. However, the apprenticeship market is tense: there are currently around ten applicants for a job.
