LeBron James Pushes Back on Viral Claim Involving Joel Embiid
LeBron James denied a broadcast report that he scolded Joel Embiid for arriving late to practice, saying, “He ain’t been late so stop the lies.”
- NBA broadcaster Mike Breen reported during Monday's preseason game between the 76ers and New York Knicks that LeBron James scolded teammate Joel Embiid for arriving late to a recent practice session.
- Prioritizing accountability in his 24th NBA season, James has set high standards for the 76ers roster, which includes Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe; Maxey previously challenged Embiid in Nov. 2024.
- Responding to the allegations, James denied the claims, stating, "He ain't been late so stop the lies." His denial directly contradicts Breen's reported account of the practice confrontation.
- Teammate VJ Edgecombe noted James' meticulous preparation, saying, "He was in there before everybody," per ESPN's Dave McMenamin, underscoring the veteran's work ethic entering his 24th NBA season.
- The 76ers have three preseason games remaining before opening the 2026-27 regular season against the New York Knicks on Oct. 20, providing limited time to integrate new additions including Jaylen Brown.
