Why Alexander Isak and Alisson Becker Are Both Out of Man United vs Liverpool
Liverpool will be without a senior striker and first-choice goalkeeper as Arne Slot manages fresh injuries and several other absences.
Liverpool striker Alexander Isak will miss Sunday's Premier League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford after sustaining a minor injury during training this week, forcing head coach Arne Slot to rule him out.
The £125 million forward returned to action in April following a four-month absence with a broken leg sustained on December 20 against Tottenham Hotspur. The Sweden international required surgery before making a complete recovery.
Head coach Arne Slot confirmed Mohamed Salah is recovering from a muscle injury and Hugo Ekitike remains sidelined with an Achilles problem. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker is also unavailable, keeping Freddie Woodman in goal.
Slot told Sky Sports, "After our last win against Palace, you go into the week and in the start you already know you're going to miss out on Mo, and then during the week we miss out on Alex as well." The manager expressed frustration over multiple absences.
Champions League qualification remains the primary objective as the Reds prepare for their encounter at Old Trafford. Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz, and Jeremie Frimpong are expected to spearhead the attack without senior strikers.
Liverpool have suffered a major blow ahead of their crucial Premier League clash against arch-rivals Manchester United, scheduled for Sunday, May 3, with the confirmation that Swedish striker Alexander Isak will miss the match due to injury.
