Hall of Fame LB Lawrence Taylor Discharged From Hospital
The former New York Giants star was admitted April 23 after an initial stomach issue report, and later diagnosed with pancreatitis.
On Tuesday, Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor was released from Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey after treatment for pancreatitis. Attorney Mark Eiglarsh confirmed the 67-year-old is returning home to Florida to continue recovery.
Taylor had been hospitalized since April 23 for a stomach issue initially considered non-threatening. Pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas, can cause mild to severe pain and is often linked to alcohol consumption or gallstones.
During his 13-year NFL career with the New York Giants, Taylor won two Super Bowls and earned league MVP honors in 1986. He recorded 142 sacks and 1,088 tackles, establishing his defensive legacy.
Eiglarsh noted that Taylor expressed deep gratitude to the medical staff and credited fan support for providing strength during his hospitalization. Taylor hopes to return to the golf course soon.
Beyond his playing career, Taylor has faced legal challenges, including a 2011 guilty plea for sexual misconduct that resulted in six years of probation. He was charged in 2021 and 2024 for failing to update his address on the state sex offender registry.
