The last four glaciers in Germany have lost more than a quarter of their area in the past two years, melting much faster than previously thought, according to a new study that attributes climate change to the main cause. Geographer Wilfried Hagg of the University of Munich and glaciologist Christoph Mayer of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences published the results of their research on the eve of World Glacier Day, which is March 21.
