Second Daily Amtrak Pennsylvanian Train Starting Nov. 18, Tickets on Sale Now
The new round trip will give travelers greater flexibility as Amtrak says ridership has grown 20% since 2019.
Leaders on Tuesday announced that a second Pennsylvanian train will start running on Nov. 18, doubling service on the 444-mile route between Pittsburgh and New York City.
The Shapiro administration invested more than $80 million in rail infrastructure projects on Norfolk Southern-owned track between Harrisburg and Pittsburgh to accommodate the additional daily trip.
PennDOT received over $140 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to help cover the $200 million project cost, supporting Amtrak's 20% ridership growth since 2019.
Amtrak board member Rob Gleason said the second daily round trip will provide "greater flexibility" and "strengthen connections across Pennsylvania." Tickets are now available this week.
Travelers can purchase tickets now on Amtrak.com, with one-way fares starting at $52 between Lancaster Station and Pittsburgh, and $50 between Elizabethtown and Pittsburgh.
