The Kremlin claims Europe is paying exorbitant prices for gas as it shuns cheaper Russian supplies. European gas prices have spiked due to disruptions, reaching highs not seen since the Ukraine war's onset. Russia argues that Europe should reconsider its energy sources to mitigate rising costs.
Moscow, 9 Sep (EFE).- The Kremlin reminded Europe today that it can "immediately" resume cheap gas supplies, now that gas tariffs on former Russian customers have doubled compared to last year. "The current level of gas prices on the stock market is not record. The record will be set later and Europeans are aware of it," said Russian Presidency spokesman Dmitri Peskov at his daily press conference.
The Kremlin has said that Europe is harming itself by buying expensive gas instead of taking advantage of the cheaper Russian option, while gas prices are rising due to the war in Iran.
