North Korean leader Kim Jong Un attended a welcoming ceremony for a military unit returning home after serving in Russia for 120 days, where North Korean troops assisted Russian forces in Kursk and in clearing the area of mines.
Rarely, Pyongyang officially acknowledged on Saturday 13 December the death of nine of its soldiers engaged alongside Russia. According to the KCNA State Agency, they were killed during demining operations in the Russian Kursk region, a theatre of fighting with Ukrainian forces.
