Kia reveals EV2 prices are cheaper than expected
Kia's EV2 offers three variants with up to 281 miles range and fast charging, targeting affordable electric mobility amid competition from Chinese brands and Volkswagen.
- Kia revealed EV2 prices and opened orders in Europe, with Germany starting at 26,600 , below the expected 30,000 .
- Kia says the EV2 is a new entry point to electric mobility to broaden adoption, and it began production of the standard-range model last month at the Žilina plant in Slovakia for European buyers.
- Kia says the EV2 charges from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes and supports bidirectional charging with Air, Earth and GT-Line trims plus 42.2 kWh and 61 kWh batteries.
- Built on the E-GMP platform with a 400V architecture, the EV2 aims to cut costs and is positioned below the EV3 to compete with BYD and Volkswagen ID, but it will not be offered to U.S. consumers.
- The EV2 is fully connected via Kia Charge with Plug & Charge capabilities, integrated EV Route Planning, over-the-air software updates, and supports bidirectional charging for grid services.
