The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency has issued a nationwide malaria alert following the confirmation of Anopheles mosquitoes carrying the malaria parasite. Although mosquito activity had slowed due to the record-breaking heatwave, an increase in density is expected as temperatures have recently dropped, prompting the agency to urge intensive control measures and adherence to personal hygiene guidelines.
South Korea has issued a nationwide alert after genetic material belonging to the Plasmodium parasite, which causes malaria, was detected in Anopheles mosquitoes.
