Kast faces a complex challenge ahead: he has promised to align the government with the Trump administration, but China is Chile's main trading partner. Furthermore, he does not have a secure parliamentary majority, so his government will have to be one of compromise.
The first measurement of public opinion after the change of command shows a scenario of strong initial support for the new Executive, although it also shows a higher level of rejection than observed since 2010 in other presidents when starting their administrations.
