Kalshi plans 24/7 Tesla, Apple and Nvidia perps

The proposal would let U.S. traders use regulated contracts tied to Tesla, Apple and Nvidia, as perpetual-futures volume rose 29% to $61.7 trillion in 2025.

  • On September 10, The Wall Street Journal reported that Kalshi intends to seek regulatory approval for approximately 60 perpetual futures linked to stocks and ETFs, including Tesla, Nvidia, and Apple.
  • Perpetual futures allow traders to maintain positions without a fixed expiration date, using leverage to control holdings larger than posted collateral. Around-the-clock trading would enable activity beyond traditional exchange hours.
  • Global perpetual-futures trading volume increased 29% to $61.7 trillion during 2025, according to CryptoQuant data. Leverage amplifies gains when markets move favorably, though adverse movements can trigger forced liquidation.
  • CME Group sued the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in June, arguing perpetual futures qualify as swaps under the Dodd-Frank Act. The dispute involves the SEC over which agency should oversee securities-linked products.
  • Citadel Securities warned the SEC and CFTC that excluding equity-linked perps from securities regulation could create a 'parallel shadow market,' citing potential insider-trading risks when stock exchanges are closed.
