Justice Department sues four US states, one county over voting records

- On Thursday, the DOJ sued Fulton County, Georgia, in federal court in Atlanta, seeking 2020 ballots and demanding their production within five days, naming Che Alexander.
- Fulton County officials refused an Oct. 6 subpoena, saying in a Nov. 14 letter the records are sealed, while Che Alexander stated on Oct. 21 they require a court order to produce them.
- The lawsuit demands used and void ballots, ballot stubs, signature envelopes and matching digital files from the 2020 general election, saying they are needed to investigate Fulton County's federal election law compliance.
- DOJ officials framed the Fulton County suit as part of a broader campaign, suing Nevada, Massachusetts, Colorado and Hawaii on Friday and now pursuing 18 states under the Civil Rights Act of 1960.
