- Ambassador Haruna Ali-Gombe, Director of the African Affairs Department, received the returnees on behalf of the Federal Government; two officials from the Consulate-General of Nigeria in Johannesburg accompanied the group throughout the process.
- Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sola Enikanolaiye insisted the crisis requires stronger migration governance, citing Nigeria's over $60 billion historical commitment to South Africa's liberation while emphasizing that Africans must be regarded as having "equal dignity."
- Nigeria and Ghana plan to present the matter at the African Union Assembly, while calling for activation of Nigeria-South Africa early-warning mechanisms to detect and defuse tensions before they escalate.
