John Cameron Mitchell returns to Broadway in a 12-week run starting Feb. 3, 2026, joining a cast that has broken box office records and won multiple Tony Awards.
- Beginning Feb. 3, 2026, Tony-winning actor John Cameron Mitchell will play Mary Todd Lincoln in Cole Escola's play Oh, Mary! at the Lyceum Theatre through April 26, 2026 for a limited 12-week engagement.
- Oh, Mary! opened July 11, 2024, at the Lyceum and became the first show to gross more than 1 million dollars in a week, breaking its own record twelve times.
- Drawing on his Hedwig legacy, Mitchell, who co-wrote and starred in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, will don the production's iconic bratty curls as director Sam Pinkleton praised his natural fit.
- Mitchell joins a rotating roster of Marys that includes Escola, Jane Krakowski , Tituss Burgess, Betty Gilpin, Hannah Solow, and Jinkx Monsoon with short-term covers.
- Returning to drag and Broadway, Mitchell, described as a queer trailblazer and cultural icon, returns to drag for Oh, Mary! following recent TV roles in City on Fire and Yellowjackets, with Sam Pinkleton's leadership positioning the play to sustain interest.
