JioHotstar Launches in Singapore
The service will offer more than 160,000 hours of content, live voting for Bigg Boss and new quarterly and annual plans.
- On Wednesday, JioHotstar launched across the UK, Canada, and Singapore, officially replacing the existing Hotstar streaming platform in these three markets.
- Reliance Industries Ltd. and The Walt Disney Co. formed an $8.5 billion joint venture in 2025, merging their media assets to expand globally beyond India's 500 million users.
- Viewers access over 160,000 hours of content including the reality franchise "Bigg Boss" with live voting capabilities and subtitles across 12 Asian languages, plus Before-TV early access to select shows.
- Unlike the Indian service, the international launch excludes live sports due to existing content deals. Canadian subscriptions cost about $14 quarterly or $36 annually, with comparable pricing in UK and Singapore.
- Amit Malhotra, Head of International Business at JioStar, said the service is "designed to resonate deeply with the South Asian diaspora while appealing to a broader global audience." The company plans further expansion.
