Kimmel delivers monologue during alternative White House Correspondents’ Dinner event, including jokes about Trump
Kimmel mocked Trump, Melania and White House aides in an alternative roast after the White House Correspondents' Association booked mentalist Oz Pearlman instead of a comedian.
On Thursday, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel staged an "alternative" roast to the White House Correspondents Dinner, delivering scathing jokes about President Donald Trump and his administration on his broadcast.
The WHCA replaced traditional comedic entertainment with mentalist Oz Pearlman because President Trump is attending for the first time as president, a shift Kimmel criticized by noting the 47th POTUS has "the thinnest fat skin of any human being ever."
During the monologue, Kimmel targeted senior adviser Stephen Miller and FCC chairman Brendan Carr, while referencing the "Trump-Epstein Files" to joke that 30 years ago, Trump was "just some rich guy on Jeffrey Epstein's private jet."
Kimmel plans to feature mentalist Pearlman on his show next Monday, remaining undeterred by the president's decision to exclude traditional satire from the official dinner proceedings.
Historically, the dinner served as a lighthearted roast where presidents participated; the current shift away from satire highlights the tense relationship between President Trump and late-night hosts like Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert.
