Jenna Bush Hager Drops Big News About New Show Away From ‘Today’
The pilot centers on a law enforcement family targeted by a mysterious assassin, and NBC will decide this week whether to pick it up.
On Thursday, Jenna Bush Hager shared an update on her NBC scripted pilot through her production company, Thousand Voices Books, revealing the network will announce a pickup decision this week or next.
The pilot, titled Protection or In the Line of Fire, stars Peter Krause and Hope Davis in what Bush Hager describes as a "Scandal-esque" show with a "White House twist" blending family drama, mystery, and romance.
Executive producers Joshua Safran and Ben Spector work alongside Bush Hager, daughter of former President George W. Bush, on the project; she previously called it a "tribute" to Secret Service members who protected her family.
The story follows the Thornhill family, who must bridge personal differences to protect one another from a mysterious assassin after a U.S. Marshal falls in the line of duty.
Bush Hager said she now plans to prioritize her family after filming concludes, noting, "The next couple weeks, the next couple months, it's kid-focused.
