Police charged Craig Silvey and a 68-year-old woman with producing and distributing child exploitation material following forensic analysis of seized electronic devices.
- On Monday, award-winning author Craig Silvey was charged with two further child exploitation offences, including allegedly producing material dated February 2022–June 2022 and a possession charge dated January 12, 2026.
- Following the raid, forensic examination of electronics formed the basis for charges after detectives executed a search at his Fremantle home and seized electronic devices.
- The co-accused, a 68-year-old woman from Marangaroo, faces two counts of producing child exploitation material, one count of distributing it, and three counts of failing to comply with reporting obligations; she was arrested last month and remanded to appear at Joondalup Magistrates Court on April 2.
- Silvey was earlier released on a $100,000 surety as lawyers sought condition changes, and his bail conditions were extended on Monday with the matter adjourned to a further hearing in May.
- Publishers and bookstores have paused promotion and pulled his books, with Allen & Unwin halting promotion and major retailers including Dymocks removing titles, while state education departments and the City of Subiaco dropped his name from awards.
