- This match launches the "Sport 75" initiative, an agreement between Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrating 75 years of diplomatic ties.
- Captain Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming, who has featured in 55 T20Is, leads the squad alongside Ibrahim Takahashi and Declan Suzuki-McComb, the only other players with more than 50 appearances.
- To prepare for the Asian Games, Japan excluded players eligible under ICC regulations but ineligible under Asian Games rules, mirroring its tournament squad.
- Japan faces Hong Kong in two T20Is on September 19 and 20 before starting its Asian Games campaign on September 24.
