“I am sure that she would have loved to spend her life in Gombe in her forest with her chimpanzees, but she also knew that if she did not embark on her 40-year tour around the world, this forest, and many others, and these chimpanzees would be destroyed,” says Enikő Mészáros, former president of the Jane Goodall Institute in Hungary, sharing her personal memories of the legendary environmentalist.
