Black Caps Player of the Year Missing for England, Ireland Test Series
Kane Williamson returns as Michael Bracewell steps back for family reasons, while Dean Foxcroft earns his first Test call-up.
New Zealand selectors named a 19-man Test squad on Thursday for tours of Ireland and England, headlined by the return of Kane Williamson and fast bowlers Kyle Jamieson and Will O'Rourke, alongside maiden call-up Dean Foxcroft.
Jamieson and O'Rourke return after recovering from back injuries sustained in early 2024, while Jacob Duffy skips the tour as he and his wife await the birth of their first child.
New Zealand head coach Rob Walter praised the returning pace attack, stating, "Kyle's been on a journey of getting his body ready for Test cricket. He's really fit and strong at the moment."
The squad travels to Belfast for a one-off Test beginning May 27, followed by three matches against England starting June 4 at Lord's, with several players joining after Indian Premier League stints conclude later this month.
Star batter Williamson enters the tour sitting 539 runs shy of becoming the first New Zealander to reach 10,000 Test runs, having previously indicated his international future would be evaluated on a "series-by-series" basis.
