Jamie Foxx Opens up 3 Years After Health Scare, Talks New Standup Special
Jamie Foxx says he has unfinished business as he returns to standup with a Hulu special filmed in Oakland and featuring his daughter.
Premiering Wednesday on Hulu and Disney, Jamie Foxx returns to his comedy roots in the new standup special Take Care of Yourself, filmed in Oakland, California.
The 58-year-old actor told ABC News correspondent Will Reeve during a Monday Good Morning America interview that he has "unfinished business," saying, "Man, I almost died," three years after a health scare.
Medical staff told Foxx his survival odds were slim, noting, "Less than 3% of people that come in with what you have walk out of here." He later visited the nurses who kept him alive.
Aided by friends and loved ones during recovery, Foxx welcomed his daughter Anelise to share the spotlight in the special, showcasing her musical talents alongside him.
Now feeling more creative than ever, Foxx intends to connect with audiences by sharing his journey: "Hey, man, I went through some stuff and I'm gonna tell it as funny as I can, but as real as I can.
