JAMB Releases Underage UTME Results
JAMB says only underage candidates who meet a 320 UTME score and other screening requirements will be considered for admission.
- On Saturday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board released the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination results for underage candidates, allowing them to view their scores though this does not confer immediate eligibility for admission.
- With more than 38,000 underage candidates registered for the 2026 exercise, JAMB had withheld results for months to enforce a policy requiring students to be at least 16 years old by September 30.
- To qualify for exceptional admission, candidates must score at least 320 out of 400 in the UTME and demonstrate 80 per cent performance in Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination subjects, followed by expert assessments.
- Awaiting the release of National Examinations Council results, the Board will proceed to the final stage of assessment, meaning current UTME scores cannot be used for any official admission purposes.
- Public Communication Adviser Fabian Benjamin urged the public to avoid unauthorized admission agents, stressing that the selection process remains transparent and merit-based with a final assessment date to be announced soon.
