'I've lost my son. Yours will be next': Oct. 7 families set protest demanding state probe
Families of October 7 victims came to the Knesset as the coalition opened hearings to form a politicized, Netanyahu-backed panel to probe the Hamas massacre. 'A country that does not investigate itself after its worst disaster tells its citizens they do not count,' one bereaved father said
At a press conference, Yuval Zauschinzer, the widow of Major Roy Chappell, who was killed on October 7, said that if there is no commission of inquiry, the state is preparing the ground for the next disaster that will knock on the door of its citizens. Rafi Ben-Shitrit, the father of Elroy Ben-Shitrit, added: "A state that honors its fallen is not afraid of the truth."
Bereaved parents protested in the Knesset during the Constitutional Committee's discussions on establishing a political investigation committee, saying: "How can we move forward when the cloud of the Qatar affair hangs over decision-making centers?" Eyal Eshel said: "A country that does not investigate itself after the greatest disaster in its history makes it clear to its citizens that it does not count them."
