Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality has launched a comprehensive study to protect the monumental trees that constitute the city's natural heritage. In collaboration with Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Forestry, approximately 600 trees will be examined in detail using visual and physical inspections, as well as acoustic tomography. 🚆
Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Forestry will examine approximately 600 trees in the city. Acoustic tomography will be applied to trees deemed necessary; the studies are planned to last approximately two months.
In Şişli, approximately 200 large and old trees will initially be examined using acoustic tomography to calculate their risk of falling. Trees found to be decayed will be pruned and given mechanical support to keep them in place as much as possible.
