Israeli strike in Gaza kills seven people, including two women, medics say
Medics said the strikes hit a tent encampment and a vehicle as Egypt hosted new truce talks aimed at preserving the ceasefire.
An Israeli airstrike in Gaza City killed seven people and wounded 15 others, including children, when it targeted a large tent encampment in the heart of the territory.
Mediators restarted talks in Cairo with Hamas and other Palestinian factions as a ceasefire brokered by President Donald Trump has failed to halt Israeli attacks since the war began in October 2023.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said talks focus on implementing the first phase, while the group told mediators from Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the Board of Peace that ending Israeli attacks is essential.
Indirect talks on a second phase including Hamas disarmament and Israeli troop withdrawals have stalled, while nearly 73,000 people in Gaza have been killed since the war started and 950 Palestinians died in Israeli strikes since the truce began.
Hamas demands Israel end attacks, allow more aid, and withdraw to ceasefire lines, whereas Israel maintains its strikes aim to thwart imminent attacks while allowing goods and aid into the territory.
