Islandwide drought lingers despite some rain

Despite localized heavy rains, most of the Big Island remains in moderate to extreme drought with stream levels below normal, the National Weather Service said.

The entire Big Island remains in drought, despite higher rainfall totals the last couple of months and climatologists having declared weak La Nina conditions in equatorial Pacific waters.
