- On Friday, the Delhi Police arrested Mohammad Sahil and his wife Sameera for allegedly operating an espionage module in Sarai Kale Khan on behalf of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence .
- Sahil, planning to pursue LLB from Uttar Pradesh's Badayun, was first contacted by a Pakistani agent via Instagram in 2024 and convinced to work for the module along with Sameera, a 12th pass, after being promised financial gains.
- Between 2024 and 2025, the couple obtained eight Indian SIM cards and sent them to Pakistan via Dubai, receiving Rs 30,000 from handlers, with Sameera playing a central role in the operation.
- The duo was tasked with conducting reconnaissance of cantonment areas across India and gathering details of "Army personnel whose court martial proceedings are pending before tribunal," while WhatsApp accounts on the SIM cards enabled Pakistani operatives to infiltrate Indian groups for sensitive defense information.
- Police stated the operation "uncovered significant details about Pak-based handlers and the method they used to coordinate with the over-ground workers/ sleeper cells through encrypted communication platforms." Forensic analysis revealed incriminating chats with Pakistani agents.
