- On Dec. 9, TBC Distribution Corporate of Brooklyn, New York recalled Lucky Foods Cinnamon Powder in 40-gram vacuum-sealed or modified-atmosphere pouches with a brown label and best-before Sept. 15, 2027, due to elevated lead concerns.
- State lab analysis by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets revealed elevated lead in cinnamon pouches distributed to retailers between April 11 and September 1, 2027.
- The FDA classified the recall as Class I and added no illnesses have been reported, noting short-term low-level lead exposure may not cause obvious symptoms.
- TBC Distribution has stopped working with the supplier, and consumers who purchased the product should check pantries and contact TBC Distribution at 718-444-5556 for refunds.
- Health officials warn lead exposure can affect nearly every bodily system, causing developmental defects in children and kidney dysfunction and neurocognitive effects in adults.
