The 2027 BMW iX3 Has a Much Longer Driving Range Than the Porsche Macan EV, and It Costs Less Too
The electric SUV is BMW’s first Neue Klasse model and offers up to 434 miles of range, with preorders already topping 50,000 in Europe.
BMW opened preorders for its new 2027 iX3 on Wednesday, starting at $61,500 as the first model from its Neue Klasse platform of EVs.
Built on the sixth-generation Gen6 eDrive architecture with advanced cylindrical battery cells, the iX3 unlocks a 30% improvement in driving range and 30% faster charging speeds compared to current EVs.
With 20-inch summer tires, the iX3 delivers up to 434 miles of EPA-estimated range; its 800-volt platform supports fast-charging up to 400 kW, recharging from 10% to 80% in about 21 minutes.
Trim levels include Sport, M Sport, and M Sport Professional, priced from $61,500, $64,000, and $65,500 respectively, with options like the $2,500 Driving Assistance Professional package providing Level 2 hands-free driving.
U.S. deliveries of the iX3 begin in late September, and interested customers can reserve vehicles now using a $1,000 deposit; the iX3 offers significantly more range than the Tesla Model Y Premium All-Wheel Drive.
