Irkutsk residents react to reports of a suspected pneumonic plague death at a local anti-plague institute, with authorities saying the cause of death remains unconfirmed.
Although the death of an employee of a Siberian pest control institute generated worldwide repercussions, the inhabitants of Irkutsk, Russia, consulted by the AFP were indifferent to the fact. "No one seems to be really concerned," several residents of the Russian city said.
At around 10 p.m. on Friday, October 2, three cars pulled up to a brick house with two entrances on Voronezhskaya Street in Irkutsk. People wearing gas masks and orange suits got out. They brought several containers and began disinfecting both entrances.
