Former Olympian Ciarán Ó Lionáird Dies Aged 38

Former Irish 1,500m champion and London 2012 Olympian Ciarán Ó Lionáird was found dead in Canada on Tuesday morning at age 38, according to The Irish Times.
Ó Lionáird achieved his senior breakthrough in 2011, improving his 1,500m time to 3:34.46 and qualifying for the World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, where he finished 10th.
Affectionately known as 'Mad Len,' the runner gained admirers for his laid-back, old-school training approach and outspoken views on the financial challenges elite athletes face in the sport.
Based in Topanga, California, in recent months, the Cork native worked as a shoe adviser for Nike while pursuing interests in the music and entertainment scene.
The athletics community expressed shock and sadness at the death of the West Muskerry Athletic Club member, who joined the organization at age seven in Toonsbridge.
