Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi, spokesman for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said Iran will begin reverse-engineering a US underwater drone recently seized by its naval forces. The plan was revealed in a statement carried by Iranian state media.
The Revolutionary Guard confirmed the seizure of the three-ton autonomous submersible and said it will analyze its state-of-the-art technology to boost the development of its own military weaponry.
Referring to the capture of an American submarine by the IRGC Navy, the IRGC spokesman said: "This superior technology exists in this submarine that fell into the hands of the IRGC Navy, and its reverse engineering will begin."
