Police found a knife and brass knuckles after the woman was refused boarding, and prosecutors approved three charges, including assault with a weapon.
On Sunday, Oct. 4, Nanaimo RCMP arrested Dena McCaughey, 55, at the Hullo ferry terminal at 100 Port Drive just before 1 p.m. after she allegedly threatened staff with a weapon.
After being denied boarding, McCaughey "became agitated" and reportedly produced a knife, prompting multiple 911 calls regarding her behavior toward employees.
A knife and brass knuckles were found when officers located McCaughey a short distance away; Nanaimo RCMP confirmed no injuries resulted from the encounter.
Facing three charges approved by the BC Prosecution Service, including assault with a weapon, McCaughey appeared before a judge on Monday, Oct. 5.
