Investigation underway in Malibu after man's body found in water
Homicide detectives said there was no clear indication of foul play after firefighters recovered the unidentified man from the water.
On Sept 9, authorities investigated a dead body found at a beach near Malibu Lagoon, with Los Angeles County Fire Department crews arriving around 3 p.m. to recover the man.
Firefighters found the man naked when pulling him from the water; his identity has not yet been released. Homicide detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff department reported no clear indication of foul play.
Malibu declared a state of emergency following coastal erosion, as a massive sinkhole at the beachfront home of Nicolas Cage caused 31 surrounding properties to be red-tagged.
Separately, the Long Beach Police Department investigated a deadly shooting reported Sept 9 near 21st Street and Cerritos Avenue, where officers found a man shot in the upper body who died at the hospital.
Aerial footage from NewsChopper4 showed police processing the Long Beach scene, while information regarding suspects and the identity of the deceased man in Malibu remains unavailable as both investigations continue.
